Aaron grew up in the vibrant capital city of San Jose, Costa Rica, with his parents and two siblings. From a young age, Aaron dreamed of becoming an American citizen and starting a business in the Land of Opportunity, the United States. At just 17, he persuaded his family to move to Charlotte, North Carolina, where he became a licensed General Contractor and purchased his first home at 18, thanks to his hard work and determination.
In his twenties, Aaron, as a North Carolina Licensed General Contractor and minority business owner, played a key role in renovating several prominent hotels that still grace Charlotte’s skyline today. Observing the rise in gang-related activities among Latino youth in Charlotte, Aaron founded Generation 5:17 Ministries, a nonprofit that hosted large-scale Christian concerts and weekly Spanish radio programs. This initiative aimed to inspire Latino youth to focus on high school graduation, college attendance, and pursuing meaningful careers.
Aaron was also mentored by Dan Ramirez, the first Latino-elected County Commissioner in Charlotte, who encouraged him to consider a future in local government. Additionally, Aaron served on the Workforce Board of Directors for Goodwill in Charlotte and provided weekly support for the homeless in Uptown.
In his mid-twenties, Aaron attended Georgia State University in Atlanta to advance his career in Architecture. He also pursued a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation with a focus in Financial Analysis in Toronto, Canada. While studying in Atlanta, Aaron met and married his wife, Brooke. After Brooke graduated from Charlotte School of Law, they started their family and founded Marin Development Company, a successful custom home building business serving Charlotte and Lake Norman. Their homes, known for their beauty and craftsmanship, have received numerous awards for architectural design.
Today, Aaron owns United Mortgage, serving clients in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. Having realized the American Dream of homeownership at 18, Aaron’s career in building development, architectural design, and residential mortgage lending has shaped him into a seasoned business leader. He is now ready to serve and represent the interests of Mecklenburg County residents, where he has lived, worked, and contributed for over 23 years.
